The textile project of Chakana in the region of Achocalla and Comanche has successfully been conluded. The ending of the project coincided with the 15th anniversary of the women organisation CPFOMAT with whom Chakana cooperated during the project. The completion of the project was celebrated with several festivities and an official programme in the centre of the village of Comanche. Aymara women from the seven participating communities were present to show the results of the project. Scarves, sweaters, gloves and hats were proudly displayed by the women. Speeches of sra. Magda Amorraga president of the CPFOMAT (Centro de Produccion y Formacion de Mujeres Aymaras Tikitanka), sra Monica Patzi mayor of Comanche and of several other women formed part of the official programme.

Hilvert Timmer, as director of Chakana, handed out the certificates to all participating women. During the project, the women have been trained in designing textiles and in weaving techniques. As the project matured, the quality of the products visibly improved. Besides training in techniques and designing, Chakana has also brought into contact the women of Comanche with several organizations that will sell the products in numerous stores in La Paz. In the future more outlets will be created as to enlarge the revenues of the textile products benefitting the women and their families. In request of CPFOMAT, Chakana has expressed its willingness to act as a ´patron´ for the textile project in the future.
