Aymara New Year

The team of Chakana Boliva celebrated on June 21st the Aymara New Year 5518. The team of Chakana united in the Plaza Espana of the village of Ayma (municipality of Achocalla) ready to celebrate with the local communities, the Aymara New Year.

At 10am official festivities started at the stage in the centre of Ayma. The day was celebrated with a traditional lunch and five different traditional dances by different communities, demonstrating the richness of the Andean Culture.
After a day of celebrating, the Chakana team returned to La Paz in the evening; tired but with new spirits to start a beautifull new year. Also the year 5518 will mark the inauguration of a new office of Chakana in the district of Sopacachi, La Paz.
