In 2007, Chakana started setting up a Knowledge Centre about the indigenous peoples of the Andes. The Knowledge Centre is focused on the generation and sharing of knowledge.
It’s activities are:
- doing academical research
- publication of articles and news on the internet
- the online database with publication of external authors
- publication of the thematical series ‘Chakana - a bridge to the Andes’
- holding presentation and taking part in debates
- build up relationships with research institutes
- capacity building inside the NGO and of other organizations
- different information activities in the Netherlands
- publication of books

The diffusion of knowledge about the indigenous peoples of the Andes is important because it leads to more consciousness among the international public. This causes solidarity and a more ample perspective on the world: there are people living in poverty, and they have other cosmologies and other cultures.

The centre has an important role in the international diffusion of knowledge about the indigenous peoples, in the academic sphere as well as in society.
For Bolivia and Peru, the Centre functions as a bridge between development theory and policies in the Netherlands on the one side, and the reality of development in the Andes on the other side.
In the Netherlands, the main objective is to inform the public about the problems and the culture of the indigenous peoples of the Andes.
For Chakana, the Knowledge Centre contributes to the attraction of more and more people that support the work of Chakana, which shows in a growing number of volunteers, interns, researchers, donators and experts.
The publication of our own research and the online presentation of publication of other authors is a new source of information about the indigenous peoples of the Andes. An important support is the collaboration with research institutes and universities.

The knowledge Centre is called LINCK, which refers to the objectives of the Centre (Learning, Information, Networking, Capacity building and Knowledge).
